Located within the residential development of Arverne by the Sea, the Rockaway YMCA takes full advantage of its location in the center of this planned urban development and has quickly become a vital community amenity serving families throughout the Rockaways. After opening in early 2014, the Rockaway Y served 23,000 unique people in its first year of operation. By utilizing a central spine as the organizing feature of its design, the Y provides a facility that is open and engaging from the second you walk through the door. Programmatically, the Y offers a full gymnasium, a variety of group exercise classrooms, a lap pool and shallow depth family pool with waterslide, various community areas and multi-purpose rooms, as well as a 4,500 square foot wellness floor.
