This expansion and renovation of an existing YMCA facility provided a modern facelift and reorganization of the existing building, while expanding its capacity to deliver on its mission. The 8,000 sq ft expansion provided the Y with the ability to serve an additional 1,000 new members. The new second floor wellness center is three times larger than the existing space and has large glass windows overlooking the parking lot. The entrance and locker room addition greatly simplifies circulation throughout the building and also provides the Y with ample community gathering and lounge spaces. Programmatically, the expansion and renovation is comprised of new locker rooms, a new entrance and lobby / lounge area, expanded parking capacity, new group exercise studios, new / expanded teen / multi-purpose space, expanded wellness capacity, and a children’s gymnasium.
